TikTok is a wild place full of brand new opportunities for most business owners. This is no longer just an app where you just watch short style cat videos, viral recipe videos, or just try to become a social media star. This is a serious space for legitimate business owners to attract their ideal clients. The best part is, it’s so much easier to grow because of its infancy stage. Many business owners have already jumped on this incredible bandwagon and have made a killing because of it. So what happens when you are riding this wave of fortune and the algorithm hits you with a permanent ban?
If your TikTok account has been banned, you may be wondering how to get it back. Unfortunately, there is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question. There is some good news in this equation! We have some ways you might be able to get your account back relatively quickly. Every situation is unique, and the best way to regain access to your account will vary depending on the reason for the ban. However, there are a few tips that can help you increase your chances of getting your account reinstated. In this article, we will be specifically talking about a permanent TikTok ban, not any of the other types of TikTok bans. You can also click here for an article around a TikTok temporary ban or the dreadful TikTok shadowban and what to do with those specifically.
1. Check your content to make sure you didn’t violate community guidelines
The most common reason to get a ban on your TikTok videos and content is that the algorithm feels like there was a violation of the community guidelines TikTok has created. TikTok only bans accounts that are operating outside of their terms of service agreement or have anything they deem inappropriate content. If you have read through and feel like you have not violated any of TikTok’s community guidelines, we would suggest contacting the company and figuring out what your account status is. Just a reminder, these community guidelines are as followed: Violent extremism, hateful behavior, illegal activities and regulated goods, graphic and violent content, suicide, self-harm, or dangerous acts, harassment or bullying, adult nudity, sexual content, or sexual activities, minor safety, integrity and authenticity, or platform security. You can read more on their website here.
If your account has been banned, the first thing you should do is contact TikTok to find out why. They may be able to tell you what you did wrong and how to fix it. From there you can appeal the ban directly through their platform. If you can correct the issue, there is a good chance your account will be reinstated.
2. Appeal the ban
If you have received the unfortunate banner notification and you feel that your account was banned in error, or that you have corrected the issue, you can submit an appeal to TikTok. Do this directly through the TikTok app: “My Account” tab on the top right corner of the website and select “Report an Issue.” From there, choose the option that says “My account has been banned.” This will bring you to a form where you can enter your contact information, the reason for your appeal, and a brief explanation. Be sure to include any evidence that supports your appeal.
We would suggest not contacting TikTok customer support directly because this tends to just waste time and a low chance they can do anything about it. We want you to not have to wait for TikTok’s response because we know your business’s growth depends on staying on the app and let’s face it, time is money!
PRO TIP:
There are some “black hat methods” that will trick the TikTok algorithm but we don’t recommend them all that much. They might temporarily get you back but you could be at risk for further bans in the future. They work but they might be more trouble than they are worth.
3. Email 2 different email addresses
If you are unable to appeal the ban through the app, or if your appeal was unsuccessful, you can try emailing the TikTok platform. Send an email to info@tiktok.com and include your username, the reason for your appeal, and any evidence that supports your case. The other to send this exact same email to is legal@tiktok.com. Send multiple times for multiple days and wait. We know that it’s a pain to have to sit and wait to find out if your appeal has been accepted but it will likely be worth the effort since TikTok is such an amazing platform to reach people.
If all else fails, you can try reaching out to TikTok on their various social media platforms. They are active on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Try sending them a direct message or tagging them in a post. Be sure to be polite and professional, and be sure to include your username and the reason for your appeal.
4. What are the consequences of having your TikTok account permanently banned?
If your TikTok account has been permanently banned, you will not be able to access it in any way. This includes the app, website, and any other platforms that are associated with TikTok. You will also not be able to create a new account with the same email address or phone number. This can impact many people especially if they are using TikTok for monetary purposes. Many businesses that get their accounts permanently banned can really be impacted by this. This can be a huge financial hit to a revenue source. If this is your case, we recommend you speak with a professional who can help you solve this problem. You can always schedule a free consult to speak to one of our team members and they can tell you your options.
5. What to do if the permanent ban cannot be lifted?
In some cases, the ban cannot be lifted even if you have corrected the issue. If this is the case, you will need to create a new TikTok account with a different email address or phone number to get back in good standing with TikTok. You can still use the TikTok app, but you will not be able to access your old account in any way. Those TikTok users and followers, likes, and social engagement will be gone. You will have to rebuild a whole new account from scratch. I know this can be disheartening but you do have something incredibly powerful on your side- it’s easy to grow on TikTok.
Because this is a relatively new social media platform, it is much easier to grow a new account on TikTok than it is on Instagram or YouTube. It will still take some effort and some work but all hope is not lost. We always recommend people create their videos through their cell phones first, that way you still have a hard copy of your content and don’t lose it all with your permanent ban.
